Selecting An Advisor
The GCC chapter adviser is the primary facilitator of all chapter activities and is a key factor in determining a chapter’s success. Appointing a capable, dedicated individual for the job is one of the principal’s most important GCC-related responsibilities.
Chapter advisers are appointed yearly, must be members of the school faculty, and may be reappointed to serve additional terms.
Here is a list of chapter adviser functions to assist you in your selection process.

Chapter advisers:
-
Oversee all aspects of the Game Changers Chapters' operations on campus, including the selection and induction of new members, organization of annual service projects, and implementation of discipline/dismissal procedures.
-
Act as a liaison between the faculty, administration, student body, and community on matters pertaining to the GCC.
-
Maintain comprehensive files for chapters, encompassing membership records, chapter history, activities, selection procedures, membership obligations, chapter bylaws, and financial transactions.
-
Regularly assess active chapter members for adherence to GCC standards and obligations.
-
Provide support to chapter officers in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities.
-
Facilitate all faculty council meetings in a nonvoting capacity.
-
Meet with school administration regularly to update them on chapter activities and offer opportunities for evaluation.
-
Conduct reviews of chapter documents to ensure compliance with the Constitution and the GCC Handbook.
-
Submit an annual survey detailing the chapter's activities to the national office.
-
Assist principals in renewing affiliation with the GC office annually.

Principals may choose to appoint multiple advisers; however, one individual must be designated as the primary adviser responsible for overseeing the entire chapter's account. The primary adviser holds the authority to manage all online features, including billing, and has the capability to add or remove advisers.
There are certain responsibilities that do not fall within the purview of advisers but instead fall under the specific domain of the faculty council. For instance, chapter advisers do not:

-
Remove candidates from consideration for selection.
-
Dismiss members.
-
Hear appeals for non-selection or dismissal.
-
Amend chapter bylaws, raise/lower GPA standards, or determine the amount of dues required by members.

Ask your adviser for the GCC Handbook for additional information.
