How Can You Become an GCC Member?

You strive for excellence. You dedicate yourself to serving others. You embrace leadership roles with determination. You achieve success through hard work and perseverance. If these qualities resonate with you, then membership in Game Changers Chapters (GCC) could be the perfect match!

Becoming a member entails undergoing a local selection process, culminating in induction into your school's Game Changers Chapter.

Through access to exclusive resources, programs, and services, members are presented with a distinctive opportunity to prepare for the journey ahead, whether it be in college or their career. Membership in GCC serves as a solid foundation for lifelong success.

To begin, it's essential to determine if your school has a GCC chapter. If so, reach out to your principal or inquire at the main office to identify the chapter adviser. This faculty member will provide information about the cumulative GPA required for consideration and the timeline for students who meet this criterion to submit their information for membership consideration.

Eligibility Requirements

Students in grades 9–12 who meet the requirements for membership outlined by their school’s chapter are eligible to be invited for membership.

Each chapter is required to publish its qualifications for membership, which is based on the four pillars of GCC:

  • Academic

According to Game Changers guidelines, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent            standard of excellence. (However, individual school chapters have the discretion to establish a higher cumulative GPA requirement.)

  • Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.

  • Leadership

Student leaders demonstrate resourcefulness, adept problem-solving skills, and contribute innovative ideas. Leadership experiences           can be gained through participation in school or community activities, collaborating with or working for others.

  • Mentorship

  • Mentorship involves a seasoned individual providing guidance and support to someone less experienced, fostering personal and professional development. It's a dynamic exchange characterized by mutual respect and open communication, where mentors offer valuable insights based on their own experiences. Through mentorship, both mentor and mentee can grow, learn, and thrive in a supportive environment.

Students who meet the scholarship requirement will have an opportunity to complete a form detailing their accomplishments in and commitment to service, leadership, and character.

Understanding the Obligations of Membership

Students who accept membership and are inducted into the chapter should understand the time and commitment required for this honor. This includes attending chapter meetings, as outlined in the chapter bylaws, which specify the yearly meeting schedule and member attendance obligations. Additionally, members are expected to actively participate in both chapter-wide and individual service projects aimed at benefiting the school and community. For a comprehensive list of membership obligations specific to your school's chapter, please reach out to the chapter adviser.
