Principals Role
The principal’s GCC duties are outlined in the GCC Constitution and include:
-
appointing the chapter adviser and faculty council.
-
receiving appeals from non-selected students and disciplined and/or dismissed members.

While principals are not required to approve every chapter activity, the constitution grants them authority to do so, if needed.

Here are some recommendations for maximizing the benefits of your school's GCC affiliation:
-
Select a capable and compassionate adviser. Provide support by offering professional development opportunities whenever possible. When choosing an adviser, consider factors such as their dedication and qualifications. You can find more information on selecting an adviser in the designated section.
-
Assist the faculty council in developing and disseminating selection procedures. It's essential for each chapter's selection procedures to be easily accessible to students, parents, and faculty. A well-crafted procedure not only ensures transparency but also serves as a tool for promoting the chapter within your school.
-
Familiarize yourself with the GCC Constitution and GCC Handbook. Understanding GCC policies will empower you to effectively support your GCC chapter and address any inquiries from parents and students regarding the program.
-
Regularly assess and evaluate your chapter's procedures and activities. Schedule meetings with your chapter adviser and faculty council at least once a year to gain insight into chapter activities and exchange perspectives.
-
Ensure ongoing affiliation with the GC office to remain actively connected to the broader GCC network. This ensures your chapter remains up-to-date on program developments and resources.
