How to become a member

You thrive. You serve. You lead. You succeed. Your appetite for challenge and achievement is undeniable. If this resonates with you, membership in Game Changers Chapters (GCC) may be the perfect fit!

Becoming a member involves a local selection process culminating in induction into your school's Game Changers Chapter.

With access to exclusive resources, programs, and services, members are provided with a distinctive opportunity to prepare for college and career endeavors. Membership sets the stage for lifelong success.

How Can You Become an GCC Member?

Begin by determining if your school has a GCC chapter. If it does, refer to your student handbook or inquire at the main office to find out who the chapter adviser is. This faculty member can provide information about the cumulative GPA required for consideration and the timeline for your chapter's selection process.

To gain a deeper understanding of your chapter's responsibilities and national policies, familiarize yourself with the GCC Constitution.

Eligibility Requirements

Students in grades 9–12 who have completed one semester at the school and meet the cumulative GPA requirement established by their chapter are eligible for consideration for membership. These academically eligible students, known as candidates, undergo evaluation based on additional criteria for membership.

Each chapter is mandated to publish a description of its selection procedure in an official school publication, aligning with the four pillars of GCC:

  1. Academics: According to national policies, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent standard of excellence, as determined by their local chapter. (Each school chapter may set a cumulative GPA requirement higher than the state minimum.)

  2. Service: Service involves voluntary contributions made by students to the school or community, without compensation. Specific requirements for this criterion are determined by the local chapter.

  3. Leadership: Student leaders exhibit resourcefulness, effective problem-solving skills, and contribute ideas. Leadership experiences can be derived from involvement in school or community activities where collaboration and leadership are demonstrated. The local chapter establishes specific requirements for this criterion.

  4. Mentorship: Students demonstrate good character and serve as role models for their peers and younger generations, exemplifying how to conduct oneself.

Understanding the Obligations of Membership

Students who accept membership and are inducted into the chapter should understand the time and commitment associated with this honor. This may include mandatory attendance at chapter meetings and other responsibilities outlined in the chapter's bylaws. Members are also expected to actively participate in both chapter-wide and individual service projects. For further information regarding the obligations of membership in your local chapter, reach out to the chapter adviser.
